Orthopedic Services
One Practice From First Visit Through Recovery
Carolina Regional Orthopaedics treats the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and nerves that get you through the day. Our physicians and physician assistants diagnose and treat injuries and long-standing pain using surgical and non-surgical approaches, and we handle the whole path in one practice: the first appointment, imaging, treatment, surgery when needed, and the physical therapy that follows. Patients come to us from Rocky Mount, Tarboro, Nashville, and the surrounding communities in eastern North Carolina.
Same-Day Orthopedic Urgent Care
A broken wrist or a knee that gave out on Saturday does not need an emergency room, and it should not wait two weeks for an appointment. We offer same-day orthopedic urgent care appointments at our Rocky Mount clinic, so you are seen by an orthopedic physician or physician assistant rather than a general provider who will refer you onward. On-site X-ray means most injuries can be imaged and treated in the same visit.
Our same-day orthopedic urgent care is not a replacement for emergency medical services. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
Our Orthopedic Services
Joint Replacement Surgery
When arthritis or joint damage doesn’t respond to conservative treatment, joint replacement can restore movement and reduce pain. We perform knee, hip, and shoulder replacement procedures, including partial replacement where the damage is limited to one part of the joint. Surgery is a decision we reach with you, after non-surgical options have been considered.
Pain Management
Our pain management team treats chronic and post-injury pain that has not responded to rest, medication or therapy, including back and neck pain, sciatica, joint pain and nerve pain. Treatment may involve injections, nerve blocks, medication management or a combination, and the goal is always to get you functioning again rather than simply masking symptoms.
Sports Medicine
Sports injuries have a particular urgency: athletes want to return to play, and they want to know when. We treat sprains, strains, ligament and tendon injuries, fractures and overuse conditions in athletes of every age, from high school players to adults who run, lift or play recreationally.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy happens in-house, which means your therapist and your surgeon are in the same practice and working from the same plan. We provide rehabilitation after surgery and after injury, and in many cases therapy is the treatment that avoids surgery altogether.
Imaging and Diagnostic Testing
We provide X-ray, MRI and EMG nerve testing, with X-ray available on site. Being able to image an injury during the visit shortens the time between walking in with a problem and walking out with a diagnosis and a plan.
Regenerative Medicine
Regenerative treatments, including platelet-rich plasma therapy, use the body’s own healing processes to treat joint and soft-tissue pain. These are non-surgical options, and they suit some conditions and some patients better than others, which is something we talk through honestly at the appointment.
Wound Care
Our wound healing service treats wounds that are slow to close or at risk of infection, including diabetic wounds and ulcers and infected cuts. Wounds that are not healing on their own deserve attention early rather than late.
Pediatric Orthopedics
Children are not small adults, and growing bones behave differently. We treat fractures, growth-plate injuries, sports injuries and developmental conditions in children, with the understanding that parents usually want to know what this means for the long run as much as what happens this week.
Lifestyle Health Coaching
Weight, nutrition and activity affect joint pain and surgical recovery directly. Our lifestyle health coaching program supports patients making those changes, whether they are preparing for a joint replacement or working to avoid one.

Common Questions
Do I need a referral to be seen?
Most patients can schedule directly with us without a referral from a primary care physician. Some insurance plans require one, so it is worth a quick call to your insurer or to our office at 252-443-0400 before you book.
Should I go to the emergency room or to orthopedic urgent care?
Go to the emergency room for anything severe or life-threatening: heavy bleeding, an open fracture, a bone visibly out of place, numbness in a limb, or an injury involving the head, chest or abdomen. For sprains, suspected simple fractures, joint pain that flared suddenly, or an injury that is painful but stable, same-day orthopedic urgent care will usually get you seen faster and by a specialist.
Will I need surgery?
Often not. Many orthopedic conditions respond to physical therapy, injections, bracing, activity changes or time. When surgery is the right answer we will explain why, what the alternatives were, and what recovery involves, so the decision is yours and not a surprise.
How soon can I be seen?
Same-day appointments are available at our Rocky Mount location for urgent orthopedic problems. For routine appointments, call 252-443-0400 and we will find the earliest slot with the right provider for your condition.
Do you treat work injuries?
Yes. We treat job-related injuries and work with employers and workers’ compensation carriers throughout the process.
